Clan Wars VIP Fight Night Preview and Full Card

Belfast is the place to be for MMA this weekend with two events taking place over the weekend. The second is the Clan Wars event, they are holding their VIP Fight Night to round off a successful year for the promotion.

The 12-fight card includes two amateur title fights and one pro fight preceded by a novice undercard. The card will be available to stream live for £15/€17.54 excl. fees. You can buy the stream here. For every PPV stream bought £5 will be donated towards the GoFundMe page to help get Ian Coughlan walking again. You can donate to the GoFundMe page here

In the Main Event, Jordan Furey will look to defend his belt against the travelling Fredrick Høifødt. Furey has been steamrolling his opponents to date. Going undefeated as an amateur, finishing every fight via strikes. This will be his first defence of the belt after picking it up at Clan Wars 41.

Fredrick Høifødt is probably going to be Furey’s toughest fight to date with the Norwegian fighter being highly touted. Høifødt recently competed at the IMMAF-WMMAA World Cup but narrowly lost out to eventual silver medalist Kevin Enz. The Frontline Academy fighter is a very strong grappler but has deceptively good striking.

Ireland vs. Norway bouts continues when Solomon Simon takes on Eric Mambo in a catchweight bout. Both fought at the IMMAF-WMMAA World Cup but at different weight classes. Simon has the striking advantage here but will have to deal with the height and range of Mambo.

The second title fight of the night sees Lewis Byrne take on Nahom Wedi for the Featherweight belt. Byrne has been fighting regularly this year with 6 bouts fought at both regional and international levels. His most recent win saw him pick up the Cage Legacy Featherweight belt so he’ll be aiming to add another to his collection.

In contrast to Byrne, Wedi has been absent from the scene since 2018 and is making his long-awaited return to the cage. Having not fought in so long, it will be interesting to see if ‘ring rust’ plays a factor especially against someone so active as of late.

For the sole pro fight of the card, Bellator veteran Marek Jakimowicz take on UK journeyman Liam Delsol.

A notable fight to watch is the one between Sinéadh Ní Nualláin and Sarah Elliott-Sheridan. Both fighters have represented Ireland at IMMAF competitions. Elliott-Sheridan won gold at the Youth World Championships in 2019. Ní Nualláin hasn’t had as much success in MMA as of yet, however, has quite a bit of kickboxing experience under her belt.
