A rematch only 8 months in the making awaits in Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Arena this Saturday, as Islam Makhachev defends his lightweight title for the second time against featherweight champion Alexander “The Great” Volkanovski in the main event of UFC 294. Short notice is the name of the game for the UFC’s latest PPV card. Volkanovski steps in on just 12 days’ notice to save the day, due to a cut sustained by original opponent Charles Oliveira. Meanwhile in the co-main event, former welterweight king Kamaru “The Nigerian Nightmare” Usman raised his hand on just 9 days’ notice to battle two-divisional boogeyman Khamzat Chimaev at 185lbs.
