Invicta FC 44: A New Era Results

Two titles were on the line on Friday night at Invicta FC 44 as Emily Ducote took on Danielle Taylor for the Invicta FC Strawweight Championship, while Lisa Verzosa went up against Taneisha Tennant for the Invicta Bantamweight Championship. Check out all the highlights and the official results from an exciting night of action.

Both Kayla Yontef and Carlene Chandler made their professional debuts tonight as they got the card kicked off in Memorial Hall, Kansas City. Yontef dominated Chandler and she forced the stoppage mid-way through round two with some big ground and pound.

Natalie Salcedo put on a dominating performance on her professional debut, she beat Katie Perez by unanimous decision in the 105-pound division.

SBG atomweight fighter Katie Saull was left disappointed when she dropped a razor close decision to Marisa Messer-Belenchia. Saull fought on the outside for most of the fight and that was where she was most successful. Messer-Belenchia closed the distance in rounds two and three and seemed to be stronger in the grappling department. In a fight that could have gone either way, two out of three judges scored it for Messer-Belenchia. Saull, who was born in Canada, is without a win in her last three fights.

A flyweight contest between Caitlin Sammons and Helen Peralta was an over and back slugfest. Peralta proved to be the better fighter on the night, she won a comfortable decision on all three of the judges scorecards.

Serena DeJesus, who spoke with me last week on the SevereMMA Youtube channel, took home a split decision victory in her bantamweight main card opener with Lauren Mueller. DeJesus landed some big shots throughout the fight and dropped Mueller in the first round. Mueller responded in round two with some heavy shots of her own but it was DeJesus that pushed the action in round three and won the fight by split decision.

Liz Taylor came in at short notice to defeat Jodie Esquibel in the strawweight division. Taylor fought back after a strong start from her adversary and was successful after switching it up going into rounds two and three.

Brogan Sanchez came back from an early scare to get a rear naked choke submission over Emilee King. Sanchez found herself in the mount position before landing strikes and sinking in the choke at the end of round one.

Emily Ducote produced a stunning knockout over Danielle Taylor to become the newly crowned Invicta FC champion. Ducote landed a laser right hand which had taylor out on her feet, the new 115-pound champion followed up with a head kick which sent her opponent crashing towards the mat.
