UFC Fight Night: Holloway vs. Kattar Results

The first UFC card of the year went down on Saturday night in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The main event was a featherweight encounter between Max Holloway and Calvin Katter, veteran welterweights Matt Brown and Carlos Condit went to battle in the co-main event.

Austin Lingo and Justin Kilburn got us off to a blistering start, both featherweights left it all inside the octagon. Austin Lingo proved a little too much for Kilburn winning a lopsided unanimous decision.

Ramazan Emeev squeezed out a split decision win over David Zawada in the 170-pound division.

Justin Tafa And Carlos Felipe went to war in the 265-pound division. In was was a razor close fight, Felipe did enough on the scorecards to get his hand raised. Both warriors should consider themselves winners after they put of a fight to remember.

The first ever female fighter to come out of Panama, Joselyne Edwards, got a win on her UFC debut against her Chinese opponent Yanan Wu. Edwards took the fight by unanimous decision in the flyweight division.

Punahele Soriano showcased his devastating power when he knocked out Duško Todorović in round one, ending the Serbian’s undefeated streak in the process.

Joaquin Buckley, winner of the 2020 knockout of the year, found himself on the receiving end of a head kick when he stepped in to fight Italian Alessio Di Chirico in the middleweight division.

Li Jingliang ended Santiago Ponzinibbio’s seven fight win streak, knocking out the Argentinian, who was coming back from a three year layoff, in the very first round. The Chinese fighter marked down the biggest win of his career in the 170-pound division.

Welterweight veterans, Carlos Condit and Matt Brown put on a hell of a fight in the co-main event. Condit took the fight on all three judges scorecards, Condit is 2-0 since his return from retirement last year.

Max Holloway put on a clinic in the featherweight main event, the Hawaiian dominated opponent Calvin Katter and was handed a unanimous decision win after five fast paced rounds. It was one on the best performances of Holloways career, and he will have his eyes set on another crack at current nhampion, Alex Volkanovski.
