The UFC announced tonight that Cole Miller has withdrawn from the main event of UFC Fight Night Dublin after tearing ligaments in his thumb during training and will be replaced by number 15 ranked featherweight Diego Brandao.

“Diego Brandao is explosive and a well-rounded fighter. This should be a war,” said UFC president Dana White.

We caught up with McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh to get his thoughts on the change of opponent

“As an MMA fan it’s hard not to be excited about this match up. 2 guys with known KO power. Even the weigh ins will be exciting!”

“However I think stylistically this is even a better match up for Conor to showcase his skills.”

“Would also like to wish miller a speedy recovery.”

Brandao is known as a fast starter and a dangerous striker but is also well versed on the ground and holds 9 knockouts and 5 submissions in his 18 victories.

On his twitter page, Coach Kavanagh tweeted that “In future just let us know opponent’s name at weigh ins. I’m going to assume a few changes along the way.”

“Good reason why my fighters and I continually say we don’t do training camps and we don’t focus on opponents. New opponent, same result.”
