UFC 318 – Severe MMA Staff Predictions

UFC 318 pits fan favourites and MMA legends Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier and Max “Blessed” Holloway against each other in a trilogy fight 13 years in the making. In 2012, Louisiana’s Poirier welcomed the fresh-faced Hawaiian Holloway to the UFC. Though 0-2 against Poirier across featherweight and lightweight, it’s only fitting that the former UFC featherweight champion and future Hall of Famer Holloway assists Poirier to the exit, as the king of Lafayette straps on the UFC gloves for the final* time. There’s plenty of reasons to knock the UFC for their practices, but between this matchup booking and the fact that it’s in front of Poirier’s home fans in Louisiana, this is about as perfect a send-off as Poirier can get. The question is…will it be heartbreak or despair when “The Diamond” places his gloves in the middle of the Octagon in the dying embers of Saturday night?
