Multiple Titles on the Line at Cage Legacy 14

Ireland’s premier Mixed Martial Arts promotion recently celebrated a massively successful event behind closed doors for Cage Legacy 13. The dust had barely settled on that event when the announcement of Cage Legacy 14 was made, and what an event it is set to be. Cage Legacy will take place on December 12th in the Pillo Hotel, Ashbourne, Co Meath with no less that seven title fights set to go down.

The entire card is still taking shape but we do have some title fights set in stone. One fight that has sparked huge interest is the women’s flyweight title fight. Two IMMAF World Cup gold medalists will face off in a mouth-watering clash as Shauna “Mama B” Bannon (Holohan Martial Arts) squares off against Kiya O’Sullivan (C-Mac) for the 125-pound strap.

SevereMMA spoke to Bannon, who also picked up a silver medal in the 2019 IMMAF World Championships, and she expressed her excitement of challenging for the flyweight title. The Holohan Martial Arts standout is no stranger to success having won multiple World & European Championships in kickboxing. Bannon expects to add more gold to her trophy cabinet by bring home the Cage Legacy Flyweight Title on December 12th.

“I’m really excited to compete for a title in Cage Legacy. It’s a good way to end the year and it’s local too. I hope we can do it at full capacity and I can bring a big crowd for support. I’m really looking forward to it.”

“Kiya is very well rounded, she has been around a very long time”, said Bannon on her rival. “Even though she is young, she does have a lots of experience. She is a very talented fighter and I’m glad to get the opportunity to fight her for the title. Champ vs. Champ.”

“This is going to be a very good fight, there is a lot of talent on both sides. Hopefully both of us can bring the best ofmour games and put on a good show for the audience. I’m going to be the one bring home that belt to my gym and it’ll be the perfect way to end my amatuer career.”

Her opponent, Kiya O’Sullivan trains at Dublin’s C-Mac gym alongside her brother Alexander . Kiya picked up silver at the IMMAF Cadet MMA World Championships before going one better by picking up a gold medal in the IMMAF World Cup earlier this year. She will provide a stearn test for Bannon, this will be a fight that nobody should miss and worth the admission price alone.

Another medalist at the IMMAF World Cup is also set to compete for more gold at Taylor Quinn (Team Ryano) takes on Elvis Luko (Full Power) for the Bantamweight Title. Quinn also took the time to speak to SevereMMA about the opportunity and is confident about taking home the belt.

“I am buzzing to take that title. I’ve got another bantamweight title on the 21st of November on IUR vs Oisin Fox so I’ll be a champ, champ by the year end.” Elvis is a good guy, I wish him all the best in this fight but he’s in deep deep waters against me I’m fully focused and ready to get my hand raised. Matchup wise it’s a great fight, good style match between two similar fighters but mentally I’ve already won the fight in my own head.”

Also competing for gold will be Maga Zurabov (Samson Martial Arts) and Conor McCarthy (SBG Naas) for the Welterweight Title. McCarthy is coming off an impressive TKO win at Cage Legacy 13 while Zurabov was left disappointed as he lost a decision at the same event. One of Ireland’s top prospects Max Lally is also set to return to defend his super-lightweight title against an opponent that is yet to be named.

Cage Legacy 14 will take place on December 12th at the Pillo Hotel, Ashbourne, Co Meath. Tickets on sale from Friday October 29th from cagelegacy.ie. The event will also be available on PPV. The current fight card, as it stands, can be seen below.
