Well, Here’s the Good News

It’s not all doom and gloom in the MMA world. With talks of fight islands and events taking place during a pandemic it has been a testing time for the sport. But it’s not all bad. Some members of the MMA community have been doing some great things and announcing great personal news. It’s important, especially in these strange times to stay positive. We have decided to help keep that positivity flowing the best that we can. Here is a roundup of some recent good news stories from the world of Mixed Martial Arts.

UFC lightweight Dustin Poirier and his non-profit organisation ‘The Good Fight Foundation’ helped to feed the hospital staff in his hometown. Poirier and the organisation teamed up with Deanos Pizza in Lafayette, LA.

They both provided pizza to the  frontline staff fighting COVID-19 during the pandemic. They provided the food for the hospital on Easter Sunday and will continue to do so throughout this week.

Phillipe Nover is mainly known for his stint in ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ where he reached the final in Season 8. Well Nover is also a registered nurse, maybe even one of the toughest nurses that you’ve got out there right now! The now retired fighter who normally works in cardiology, volunteered for ER or ICU as he had had past experience in that field. A heroic gesture. Kudos to Derek Brunson for the shoutout. You can check out more pictures here on Philipe’s Instagram.

Conor McGregor has been very vocal of his opinions throughout this pandemic. The Dublin man has put his money where his mouth is and provided no less than €1 million euro for PPE equipment to be provided to hospital staff fighting COVID-19 around Ireland.
