UFC Announce 2015 Return To Dublin

UFC

UPDATE: UFC Fight Night confirmed for Dublin on 24th October

After the rousing success of last year’s UFC Dublin event where Conor McGregor knocked out Diego Brandao in the first round, the UFC today announced plans to return to the Irish capital in 2015. The announcement was made by UFC president Dana White at the latest stop of the UFC 189 world tour in Dublin, much to the excitement of the 3,000 odd fans in attendance.

Although the exact date has not been made clear, a rumoured October date will be music to the ears of Irish MMA fans after it was thought the promotion wouldn’t be back in the emerald isle this early after plans to hold Conor McGregor’s world title fight against Jose Aldo in Croke Park were scuppered due to logistical issues.

Although the event is unlikely to feature Conor McGregor due to his drawing ability on American TV and Ireland’s inability to hold a card late at night, UFC Dublin 3 should have plenty of home country fighters featured with Joseph Duffy, Cathal Pendred, Neil Seery, Paul Redmond, Ais Daly and Norman Parke all possible names on the docket.

The UFC’s 2015 Dublin show will be the third of it’s kind after last year’s event followed the inaugural UFC 93 five years before.

Just like the two before it, UFC Dublin 3 is likely to take place at The Point Depot, now known as the 3Arena.
